Isaia – the designer no one knew

In culture, designer, Fashion, Good Look on February 8, 2011 at 6:32 pm

Isaia Rankin was a young, Atlanta-born businessmen with a knack for fashion. Armed with a wide smile, an infectious laugh, and buckets of ambition, he set up his eponymous label in the Big Apple.

Known for re-constructing sweat shirts and blending cashmere into wacky, body-hugging shapes, he made the front cover of Women’s Wear Daily. Everyone wanted his clothes.

Then it was over.

All that was left was an obituary, his loyal staff, and scraps of what was once the most sought-after label in fashion.

His staff tried to carry on the legacy, but by then, it was too late. It was already on to the next.
