This is what happens when two people with similar interests come together. Though the brand is Timo Weiland‘s namesake, the clothing embodies the romance of both Timo and his partner Alan Eckstein. Instant connections, a love of neck wear and a need has now translated into a collection of prints, pleats and a slew of Americana references – hence the nautical print cardigan and plaid skirts. When talking about the concept Timo is quick to explain. “We love taking something that we’ve seen maybe generations ago and exaggerating it. Making it modern, making it very now.” And you can certainly see their muses: old world traditional mixed with modern sophistication. “We love the Rolling Stones and their girlfriends,” says Timo. However, I can’t help but think of these guys as `80s prep. The guys drinking Mojito’s at the 60 Thompson surrounded by beautiful boys, and well to do society girls. It’s probably true.
Their Spring/Summer 2011 collection seems to dip more into the trend the idea of young New York City’s high society.
